Blade
The blade on the Kershaw Scallion is only 2 and 3/8″ long making it incredibly small but brilliant for smaller and delicate tasks such as skinning small game or preparing food. The steel is made out of high-quality 420HC steel which I am a big fan of seeing in my pocket knives. The reason I like this steel a lot is because it manages to keep a fairly sharp edge for a reasonably long amount of time. Of course, when I say fairly sharp, I mean face shaving sharp as this is the standards I hold all my knives too. Furthermore, as this is high carbon steel, you will notice very little if not any corrosion or rust, even from extended use.

Beautiful Stainless Steel Finish
Handle
The handle of the scallion allows you to get a really nice grip that is both comfortable and maneuverable. My only complaint about the blade is that since it is made out of aluminum it isn’t as grippy as some of the other blades out there. This is especially bad in the wet because you may find your hand slipping a bit. However, there is always the finger guard there to protect you in the case of a slip. However, as it does have an aluminum frame it allows the Kershaw Scallion to feature a built-in frame lock. What this means is that when the blade is open, part of the handle/frame actually moves into place behind the blade ensuring that it will not accidentally close or move when in use which is something that a lot of people worry about when using a folding knife.
Moreover, as with most Kershaw folders, it features the SpeedSafe technology which allows the blade to be opened with one hand.
Verdict
Overall, The Kershaw Scallion is a really solid every day carry knife. Now whilst I wouldn’t go as far to say that it is my favorite Kershaw, it is definitely up there and is a knife which I would recommend for someone who is looking for a small yet effective and robust every day carry knife. For the price, you really are not going to find a better knife and the full stainless steel makes it perfect for being engraved for a present (hint Christmas is coming up).
