The Premium Red Dot Sight

The Barnett Jackal crossbow is pretty accurate by its self but if it’s precision that you are looking for, you will find it hard to resist from using its red dot sight. One of the benefits you gain with this accuracy device is the ability to keep both of your eyes wide open while shooting. People who made actual use of the crossbow said that they were able to hit the bull’s eye 30 yards away.

What is astounding is that these reviewers were using a crossbow for the first time, with skill and years of experience you can obviously shoot your arrows a little bit longer.

If you will purchase the Barnett Jackal crossbow, you might find it necessary to buy other products as well for the best performance. Some of these include lube wax which will be used to prevent the string, cabling and other frictional objects from wearing out. If you intend to shoot several times, you might strike an interest in the Barnett made outdoor 20 inch carbon arrows with field points. Bottom line, the Jackal is a low priced crossbow which matches the quality and look of some high priced counterparts. Whether you are a beginner or a skilled outdoors hunter, the Barnett Jackal Crossbow from will be an important addition to your hunting weapons.

    1. Hi Mario!
The 315 FPS arrow from the Barnett Jackal is quite enough to kill deer, moose and elk. Remember arrows kill by the animal bleeding, not by energy transfer.

  1. need cross bow light enough for avid hunter who lost use of the left arm. who like recommendation from a great company. i know u can help me. i want to buy the right cross bow. thanks for the help .jim

    1. Yes, standard sling mounts / swivels are already on this crossbow so any standard crossbow / rifle sling will work just fine.

    1. Hi Bill! Yes, you can shoot the Jackal left handed just fine. The safeties are on both sides of the trigger, so this is designed to shoot either handed. For anyone ambidextrous, you can use this to shoot from left or right side to increase your shot radius.

  2. I m sure the 18 will work just fine too, otherwise Barnett wouldn t be recommending them; it s just a matter of preference. You can obviously store the three arrows in the quiver, which you can easily detach when marching through the woods.

  3. Been thinking about getting this but curious of its long term potential. Has anybody had this for a couple of years, and if so, are you still happy with it?

    1. I purchased my Barrent Jackal on September 0f 2013 as a starter package for bow hunting, so that puts me at owning mine for a bit over 3 seasons.

I ended up going with the Barnett Jackal originally after extensive research because the price and stats over similar crossbows put this one as the best value for its price. Over the last several years I have been very pleased with its performance and accuracy and I am still happy with my purchase.

The down sides to this crossbow (and any compound for that matter) would be the extra parts and the weight over a recurve. The Jackal comes in at almost 9 lbs with scope and quiver. Add in the weight from your backpack and walking in the bush can really add up on a long trip.

With that said I would have gotten the Raptor FX instead if it had been out before I purchased my Jackal. It is decently more, $75 last time I checked, but they cut out a lot of the weight. The Raptor is 7lbs vs the 9 lbs of this one and it comes with a better scope (I think, it might actually come with the same one). My decision though is simply on the weight difference since I have a different scope I would use either way. I just dislike the included 3dot, again though, just personal preference. If you don’t feel like spending the money on a lighter scope, this one does great and I got several clean kills over the one season I used it before replacing it out.

Make sure to wax your strings, especially the two that cross in the slide. They are very expensive to fix, not just on this xbow but all xbows,
