Blade
The CRKT Ripple features an overall length when opened of 7 and a half inches, with a blade length of 3 and 1/8 inches. This puts it into the medium range sized category of folding knives and allows it perform some heavy duty tasks as well as a lot of more delicate and smaller tasks. The 8CR14MoV steel on the Ripple is really good quality and keeps a razor sharp edge meaning you don’t have to spend countless hours sharpening the blade, however out of the box I would have preferred it to be a little sharper.
The modified drop-point style of the blade features a high hollow grind, allowing it to get good traction when slicing. Furthermore, as this is high quality stainless steel, the knife has very little chance of rusting or corroding which is a huge plus if you are looking for a knife that will last you a while.
Handle
One of the first things that you will notice about the CRKT ripple is the handle and its uniqueness. It is not only beautifully designed but also incredibly grippy, being made out of aluminum. This ensures that it is not only comfortable to hold and use but also ensures that you are able to maintain a tight grip without the fear of slipping or wobbling.
The Ripple also features a IKBS ball-bearing system which is basically a frictionless opening action allowing you to open the blade incredibly easily with either hand in a smooth yet fast action. This is something that you will really enjoy about the ripple and is not found on many other knives, so it was a pleasant surprise. The Ripple also features your typical finger flipper meaning both right handers and left handers are able to open the blade with ease. The locking liner built into the knife ensures that once it is open, the knife will stay open and gives you that extra level of confidence when using your knife.
Verdict
Overall, the CRKT Ripple is one hell of an every day carry knife and is great for those looking for a relatively cheap ($30) edc that is of high quality and comes from a reputable company. I recommend this knife purely based on the fact that it is designed by Ken Onion, so you know it is going to be of high quality and I am confident that this knife is going to last you a very long time.
